The Learning Disabilities Daytime Opportunity Service is seeking to recruit self‑motivated, enthusiastic team members to work in RCT Learning Curve (Learning Disabilities Day Services). The service supports adults with a learning disability who have been assessed as needing daytime opportunities. The service has several centres and projects that provide care and support and meaningful daytime opportunities to individuals with learning disabilities, including complex needs and autism.
Provision meets a wide range of needs from personal care to engaging people in structured activities. Active participation and the involvement of the individual with a Learning Disability is central to all delivery. Previous experience of supporting people with a learning disability in a respectful manner is desirable, but not essential.
Candidates will be expected to bring their own life experiences and skills to the role, work without exception to the Code of Professional Practice and have a genuine commitment to delivering the highest standard of care and support to the individual. You will be provided with induction, ongoing training and supervision to support you to carry out your work effectively to the expected standards, in a person‑centred, outcome‑focused manner.
You will be required to contribute to the development and monitoring of outcome‑based, person‑centred Individual Plans, by informing the process, completing daily records and other relevant documentation as required. You will need to use a computer and have excellent written and verbal skills to maintain records and communicate effectively with individuals in receipt of the service and other professionals.
You will also be required to adhere to and promote safe working practices and always ensure a safe environment. The successful candidates will join established and supportive teams. You will also be required to undertake any other duties and responsibilities commensurate with the role of a Daytime Opportunities Support Worker.
Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council. In addition to this safeguarding responsibility, the successful applicant for this role will also be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.
