We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and self‑motivated full‑time Personal Advisor to join our 14+ Service. Working to the requirements of the Children Act 1989, The Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 and Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014, the Personal Advisor will deliver services to care‑experienced young people throughout Rhondda Cynon Taff.
As a Personal Advisor within this service, you will work closely alongside other team members and services to provide advice and guidance to young people age 16‑25 in preparing them for independence and preparing them to leave care. This will involve:
- Completing risk assessments
- Writing Pathway Plans
- Making housing applications with young people
- Setting them up with furniture in their accommodation
- Preparing them for all aspects of their transition into independence
The 14+ teams are split into East (covering Cynon and Taff) and West (covering Rhondda and Taff) and this post is in the West team. The successful applicant will need to work independently and flexibly but also jointly with Social Workers in relation to case work and attend meetings. You will also need to work alongside partner agencies and in 1‑1 situations with young people to achieve best outcomes.
You will require good communication skills and a desire to work with this age group. The 14+ Service covers the whole of Rhondda Cynon Taff and the team is based at Ty Catrin, although hybrid working is currently in place.
Protecting children and vulnerable adults is a core responsibility of all staff appointed to the Council. In addition to this safeguarding responsibility, the successful applicant for this role will also be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.
