Location: Glyncornel, Llwynypia, Tonypandy CF40 2JF.

Job Type: 1 part‑time permanent post – 4 days per week.

Pay: Soulbury PayScale for Educational Psychologists points 2 to 8 with up to 3 SPA points (previous SPA points will be honoured).

The post is based in a multi‑disciplinary team within our Children's Services, Integrated Family Support Services and Therapeutic Families Team, providing advice, guidance and evidence‑based therapeutic interventions alongside social work colleagues and systemic family therapists. The ideal candidate is skilled and experienced in working with children and families, including young people who have experienced trauma.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to children and young people, and their families/carers, who are experiencing complex challenges in their lives with the aim of preventing unnecessary admission into care and assisting those already in care to return home.
  • Reduce breakdowns of placements for children and young people already in care and minimise the need for movement between placements.

Support and supervision will be provided by the Rhondda Cynon Taf/Merthyr Tydfil Integrated Educational Psychology Service, with further CPD opportunities available through the team. A flexible approach to working hours to meet service needs and a family‑supportive manner is essential.

Qualifications and Experience

You will be required to work across Rhondda Cynon Taf and with children and young people from the area who might be living beyond its boundaries. We expect candidates to have the necessary qualifications, skills and experience; if you meet these requirements, we would like to hear from you.
