Independent Domestic Violence Advisor – This temporary post runs until 31 March 2026, with possible extension based on budget review.
The RCT Safety Unit (Oasis Centre) forms an integral part of the Rhondda Cynon Taf Community Safety Department. The Unit provides a pro‑active service to victims of domestic abuse to keep them and their children safe.
We are looking for an Independent Domestic Violence Advisor to provide support and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse, working with them to create effective safety plans and reduce risk. The role involves:
- Providing support and advocacy to victims of domestic abuse, working with them to create effective safety plans and reduce domestic abuse risk.
- Working proactively with a wide range of safeguarding partners including Cwm Taf MARAC, health‑care professionals, South Wales Police, social care services, the Probation Service, Alcohol and Substance Misuse services, DWP, Citizen’s Advice Bureau, Family Law services, and employment services to deliver a holistic support service to clients.
- Raising the profile of domestic abuse within local communities, promoting prevention and early intervention services and encouraging victims to take up offers of support.
- Working with high‑level need clients in a front‑facing role and applying relevant safeguarding procedures including Child Protection legislation, dynamic risk assessment, partnership working and experience with those affected by domestic abuse.
