RCT Council is looking for a tech-enthusiastic individual to join our Cyber Security team as an apprentice. You will work with experienced specialists, gaining hands-on experience with industry-leading security tools and contributing to safeguarding critical services for our communities.

Entry Requirements

  • 3–5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Mathematics and English at grade C or above
  • Plus one of the following:
  • 3 A Levels, grades BCC–CDDB
  • BTEC Extended Diploma – Distinction, Merit, Merit or Pass

What You Will Study

You will study towards a Degree Apprenticeship – BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions (Cyber Security) at the University of South Wales.

Apprenticeship Duration

The course runs for four years with at least 20% of your time allocated to learning and studying.

Pay

This is a fixed-term post for four years, starting September 2026. Pay is based on the National Minimum Wage rates:

  • £12.71 for ages 21+
  • £10.85 for ages 18–20
  • £8.00 for under 18

After two years your salary will increase.

Eligibility

Applicants who have already achieved a Level 3 or higher qualification in the subject area of the apprenticeship are not eligible. For example, a degree in Civil Engineering disqualifies an applicant from a Civil Engineering apprenticeship, but they may still apply for other pathways.
