Overview

Rhodes Wood Hospital School (RWHS) is an Ofsted Outstanding independent hospital school located within the grounds of Rhodes Wood Hospital in Hatfield. We provide high-quality education for up to 38 students aged 8 -18 who are inpatients receiving specialist treatment for eating disorders and associated mental health conditions in a CYPMHS unit. Our students are bright, ambitious, and capable of achieving excellent academic outcomes. The school provides a calm, nurturing, and aspirational environment where learning plays a key role in each young person\'s recovery. We work closely with hospital clinicians, therapists, and families, as well as with each student\'s home or community school, to ensure smooth reintegration and continuity of education. Our students come from across England, and we are proud to provide a national standard of educational and therapeutic excellence. We are introducing a new SENDCo role to strengthen our leadership team and further develop our inclusive and therapeutic provision. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to shape SEND strategy in a highly specialised setting where education and wellbeing go hand in hand. We would like the successful candidate to start in January 2026, but we recognise the importance of finding the right person and are willing to wait for the right candidate who shares our vision and values.
