Start Date: March 2026

Position: Material Planner – You will be a key member of the team supporting the planning, implementation, delivery, and operations of the Logistics Functional Area for the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

Overview: The Logistics FA is responsible for identifying, scoping, storing, delivering, recovering, and disposing of the materials required to stage the Games. This role assists in all operational aspects of Procurement, Material Planning, Asset Management, and Dissolution of Equipment and OC assets for the Logistics FA.

Working Arrangements: The role will commence in the Organising Company’s Glasgow city centre office, with visits to competition venues as needed. The location will transition to a competition venue as we approach the Games. It is a 40‑hour per week contract, requiring presence in office according to the Organising Company’s planned pattern. All travel costs are the applicant’s responsibility. Shift patterns may include weekends during the Games.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Logistics Management Team in developing a strategic plan for Material Planning, Asset Management, and Dissolution Activities.
  • Manage, monitor and maintain inventory of Furniture, Fixtures and Equipment (FF&E) ensuring budget compliance and fit for purpose.
  • Act as point of contact for Cluster Venue Logistics Managers and Venue Logistics Managers to audit and control changes to venue allocations.
  • Facilitate logistics operations with other FAs within Glasgow 2026.
  • Manage and administer the FF&E Change Request process.
  • Ensure verification of quantity and quality of FF&E upon receipt and return at the Logistics Warehouse.
  • Work with suppliers to agree processes and meet shipping, delivery and collection deadlines.
  • Collaborate with other streams within Logistics to understand restrictions and limitations impacting FF&E quality, allocation and distribution.
  • Monitor inventory levels, track orders, investigate issues, reconcile actual stock against inventory, and generate reports.

Procurement:

  • Contract‑manage the appointed FF&E Supplier for Glasgow 2026.
  • Research, purchase, monitor orders, and manage assets.
  • Develop and administer invoicing processes.
  • Maintain and manage all supplier catalogues and stock.
  • Provide clear instructional direction to the Logistics Team regarding purchasing.

Dissolution:

  • Support development of dissolution processes and documents.
  • Input into central dissolution asset databases.

Logistics Operations:

  • Support the Logistics Operations Manager in developing efficient plans for receipt, storage, distribution, ongoing supply, recovery of equipment at venues and regular reporting.
  • Work closely with Organising Company and Event Delivery Partner staff, as well as Logistics Embedded contractors, to ensure integrated planning and successful delivery.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Minimum 2‑3 years experience in a similar role within a complex organisation.
  • Experience in supply chain, inventory, asset management and dissolution.
  • Demonstrated success in operational planning and delivering products in a time‑critical situation within a defined budget.
  • Experience in document control management.
  • Proficient in Smartsheet cross‑sheet references and formulas.
  • Knowledge or experience with warehouse and/or inventory management systems.
  • Previous multi‑sport event experience.
  • Understanding of event logistics.
  • Experience in implementing new systems and/or procedures.
