We are looking for a Performance and Emissions Certification Engineer to join our clients team on a 12 month renewable contract in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. The successful contractor will be responsible for ensuring that vehicles or products meet regulatory standards for emissions and performance, through testing and certification processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Execution of Testing: Designing and conducting engine performance and emissions tests, ensuring data quality, and maintaining test result integrity.
  • Compliance Verification: Researching and analysing customer design proposals, specifications, manuals to determine time and cost feasibility to complete projects. Ensuring products meet all relevant regulations and standards for emissions and performance.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Analysing test data, writing reports, and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Guidance: Understanding and interpreting regulatory requirements, and providing guidance to ensure compliance.
  • Certification Processes: Managing and facilitating the process of obtaining necessary certifications for products.
  • Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving issues related to performance or emissions, often involving collaboration with other engineers and teams. Investigating equipment failures and difficulties to diagnose faulty operation and make recommendations to maintenance crew.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identifying and implementing improvements in testing procedures and processes.
  • Drafting: Assisting drafters in developing the structural design of products using tools, equipment or software.

Skills:

  • Technical Expertise: A strong understanding of combustion engines, emissions control systems, and vehicle dynamics is essential.
  • Testing and Calibration: Experience with engine performance and emissions testing, calibration, and instrumentation is crucial.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and draw conclusions from test results.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate technical information through reports, presentations, and other channels.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve issues related to performance and emissions.
  • Project Management Skills: Ability to plan, manage, and deliver testing projects on time and within budget.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • Previous experience with computer applications and software related to engineering field, such as Computer Aided Design (CAD).
  • Ability to make sketches, engineering drawings and common computations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawing, schematics and computer-generated reports.

Rate: £27 per hour

Determination: Inside IR35

Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire

Duration: 12 Months Renewable

Hours: 5 days a week 7am to 3pm
