Job Description

Lead Technical Safety & Environmental Engineer - FEED (12-month contract)

RHL is recruiting a Lead Technical Safety & Environmental (TS&E) Engineer for a 12-month FEED programme supporting a major upstream development in Saudi Arabia. The work focuses on sustaining and increasing capacity across multiple Gas Oil Separation Plants (GOSPs), plus associated power generation and well injection facilities. You'll lead TS&E inputs, manage key safety deliverables, and ensure environmental compliance across the FEED scope, based in the UK office.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead, coach and coordinate a small TS&E team (engineers/designers).
  • Own and review technical safety deliverables including:
    • Fire & Gas detection philosophy and layout reviews
    • Escape, Evacuation & Rescue Analysis (EERA) inputs and actions
    • Hazardous Area Classification (HAC) deliverables and interface reviews
  • Interface with client and multi-discipline engineering teams through FEED (and into EPC readiness).
  • Provide risk management support and ensure alignment with relevant codes/standards and project requirements.
  • Support environmental assessment activity and stakeholder/social consultation inputs as required.

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Safety, Environmental Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Strong technical safety background within oil & gas / energy projects (ideally FEED).
  • Demonstrable experience leading safety deliverables and coordinating across disciplines.
  • Chartered status (CEng/IChemE or equivalent) desirable.
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management skills.

Contract details

  • Location: Surrey
  • Working pattern: 4 office days per week required minimum 1 day WFH
  • Rate: £75/hr Outside IR35
  • Start: ASAP
  • Duration: 12 months
  • Hours: 40 per week
