Job Description Mechanical Technician Permanent Helensburgh area Bulk fuels storage client We are recruiting for a Mechanical Technician to support our client's site operations near Garelochhead, carrying out routine and planned mechanical maintenance and responding to equipment issues to keep the site operating safely and efficiently. Working closely with the wider team, you will follow robust process safety and permit-to-work procedures, and maintaining high compliance standards across all tasks. Key Responsibilities Carry out routine maintenance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and corrective works to site mechanical equipment. Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, diagnose faults and complete repairs or arrange replacements. Fit and assemble mechanical components using appropriate machinery and hand tools. Complete job documentation accurately (e.g., Job Request Sheets, Planned Maintenance Cards) and keep line management updated on progress. Carry out checks, quality inspections and support calibration activities where required. Participate in oil spill techniques/response activities as required. Join a rostered on-call team and support short-notice overtime when operationally necessary. Support site operations for receipt/issue of POL products to H.M. Navy and other authorised customers when required. Undertake confined space operations (subject to training and medical fitness), including use of breathing apparatus, atmospheric monitoring and rescue procedures. Work at all times in line with HASAWA, COSHH, risk assessments and Permit to Work requirements, wearing PPE as instructed. Essential Qualifications & Experience Recognised Mechanical Apprenticeship or equivalent in a relevant engineering craft/technician discipline. Examples of acceptable qualifications include (but are not limited to): SVQ Level 2 Performing Engineering Operations; SVQ Level 2 (QPE007 - Forming & Assembling Pipework Systems); Level 3 BTEC Mechanical Maintenance; SVQ3 Mechanical Maintenance. Proven ability to work safely in a process-led environment and follow site procedures and documentation requirements. Strong teamwork, communication and a professional approach when working with colleagues and stakeholders.
