Our client operates bulk fuel storage sites across the UK and is responsible for the operations, maintenance, and engineering projects on these sites. A newly created role now exists for an experienced Trainer to develop, implement, and deliver learning, training, assessment, and development activities covering all roles within the client sites, primarily in Scotland.

Salary: £40,000 + Private Health Care, generous annual leave, excellent Pension scheme.

Location: Remote + Extensive site visits across sites, mainly in Scotland but with some in England.

Working closely with the Competency Assurance Manager and HR Director, you will play a supporting role in the implementation of the competency management system.

Key aspects of the role:

  • Coach, develop, and coordinate the Depot Assessor Support CMS implementation in areas/facilities not yet engaged with the program.
  • Identify high-level training and development opportunities for failed assessments.
  • Implement training and competence solutions, including the delivery of in-house training.
  • Measure and evaluate training and competence solutions to determine effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Analyse Training Evaluation Feedback and take action where issues are identified.
  • Communicate progress monthly and quarterly regarding apprenticeship recruitment and development.
  • Engage with functional leaders (Operations, Asset Technical, Maintenance Engineering, Business Services, HSSEQ, Capital Projects, Air Command & HR) to align competency assurance with overall business goals.
  • Recommend, develop, and implement new procedures to improve the effectiveness of training and development.
  • Support the identification of training needs where capital development programmes are in place and ensure training is implemented before equipment is commissioned.
  • Assist Depot Managers to update and develop training material including Operating Manuals, Operating Procedures, and ABLs (Activity Based Learning).

Experience required:

  • Demonstrable experience as an Operations Trainer/Assessor.
  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in Training & Development, with a minimum level 4 qualification in an Operational (Process) or Engineering related discipline or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge and experience of competence management systems, competency-based assessment, learning, and training within Major Accident Hazard Industries.
