New opportunity to join one of the UK's leading independent bulk liquid storage providers, operating four strategically located terminals across the country. The Company supports a wide range of sectors including chemicals, petroleum, gases, bitumen, and emerging energy markets such as hydrogen, sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and carbon capture. A vacancy now exists for an Electrical Engineer to join the team. Negotiable Salary + Bonus + Private Healthcare.

The role:

  • You will be a Subject Matter Expert for electrical systems and equipment, ensuring safe and reliable operation of our client's electrical systems and electrical assets.
  • Provide technical support, leadership and guidance to projects, operations, and maintenance.
  • Take responsibility for electrical aspects of projects & modifications, developing and reviewing designs and specifications for new electrical systems and equipment.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for implementation of the companies Electrical Safety Rules and review as required in line with changes in legislation and industry best practice.
  • Designated Electrical Competent Person under Electricity at Work Regulations for all Navigator terminals.
  • Authorising Engineer.
  • Competency assessment of site electricians and contractors' electricians.
  • Specification, budgeting and scheduling of electrical inspection and preventative maintenance, including HV / LV and ATEX routines to ensure reliable, safe and reliable operation.
  • Development of HV switching programs.
  • Responsible for the application of appropriate electrical engineering codes and standards and management of any deviations from standards.
  • Technical review of designs undertaken by Navigator engineers and design houses.
  • Prepare cost estimates and business case proposals for electrical equipment/system CAPEX.
  • Responsible for OPEX and CAPEX budgets.

Site Electrical Equipment includes: Power Transformers, HV/LV Switchgear Air, Vacuum and Oil, HV/LV distribution, tripping batteries, transformer rectifier units, ATEX and FLP Motors, Motor Starters, HV / LV VSDs, Soft Starts, UPSs, lighting, trace heating, industrial immersion heaters, HVAC, Hazardous Area Cabling/Containment/Junction Boxes, Lightning Protection Systems and Earthing and Bonding Systems.

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree educated in Electrical Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer Status or working towards Chartership.
  • Experience managing design/installation/commissioning and maintenance of electrical systems on a COMAH site, preferably in the bulk liquid storage sector.
  • Significant electrical system design experience, load lists, SLDs, cable sizing, fault level, protection grading studies and motor starting calculations.
  • Lightning protection calculations.
  • Specification of equipment for installation in Hazardous areas.
  • Risk Assessment.
  • Site Commissioning and Troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience as designated competent person under Electricity at Work Regulations.
  • Experience in roles such as: Authorised Person, Senior Authorised Person, Control Engineer and Authorising Engineer.
  • Experience in managing ageing assets.
  • Experience in training and mentoring site electricians.
  • CompEx Ex01 - 04.
  • CompEx Design (Ex12), parts A & B.
  • Working Knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as BS 7671 and BS EN 60079.
  • Knowledge and skills will cover hydrocarbon & chemical storage, process safety and knowledge of UK specific regulations such as Electricity at Work Regulations, DSEAR, PUWER, CDM and COMAH.
