Opportunity to work at a Terminal involved with importing, handling, storing and delivering a range of bulk liquid products. You will be based at one of the most technologically advanced storage facilities in Europe connected to the national fuel distribution pipeline network. This opportunity would suit Shift Operators currently working in Bulk Liquids, Water, Oil and Gas or Chemicals industries.

£42,000 + Overtime

12 hour shifts (Nights and Days)

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Shift Operator to join a safety-critical operations team as they expand their busy terminal in Canvey Island. This is a hands-on, varied role combining control room monitoring with field-based operations to ensure safe, compliant and efficient import, export and storage activities. Comprehensive training scheme provided.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control terminal operations from the site control room, responding to system alarms as required.
  • Set up, start and stop product transfers (internal movements, jetty import/export and pipeline transfers).
  • Monitor tank levels, transfer rates, pumps and pipeline routes throughout operations.
  • Oversee road loading operations (FuelFacs), assist drivers and complete supervised loads/sign-offs.
  • Complete shift handovers and maintain accurate operational documentation and records.
  • Apply the Control of Work system, including preparing and isolating plant for maintenance.
  • Carry out routine equipment checks/PPMs, raise maintenance requests and report defects promptly.
  • Conduct audits/inspections, maintain site security standards and complete housekeeping tasks.
  • Participate in emergency drills and provide first response support during site incidents (including firefighting as required).

Skills & experience:

  • Essential: Experience within bulk liquid storage (or closely related process/terminal operations).
  • Confident using computer-based control systems.
  • Able to work at height.
  • Working knowledge of relevant safety and environmental legislation.
  • Desirable: Oil storage, refining, Chemicals, Water treatment background.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings (e.g., P&IDs).
  • Driving license.
