Rhino Recruitment are working with a leading fire safety specialist to recruit a Graduate Health & Safety Officer to join their growing compliance team in Caerphilly. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated graduate looking to begin or develop their career in health and safety within a well-established organisation that delivers critical fire safety services across the UK.
You will work closely with senior leadership and operational teams, gaining valuable hands-on experience across multiple projects while developing your knowledge of health and safety management systems and compliance.
The Role
As a Graduate Health & Safety Officer, you will support the organisation’s health and safety management systems and compliance processes while gaining exposure to a wide range of operational activities. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the Occupational Health & Safety Management System in line with ISO 45001 requirements
- Assisting with the development and maintenance of health and safety policies and procedures
- Carrying out site inspections and audits with guidance and support
- Assisting with the preparation and review of RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements) and COSHH assessments
- Supporting accident and near-miss investigations and follow-up actions
- Assisting with occupational health monitoring and wellbeing initiatives
- Maintaining accurate health and safety records and documentation
- Helping deliver health and safety inductions, toolbox talks and training
- Supporting PPE management and equipment checks
- Participating in the Employee Health & Safety Committee
- Promoting a positive health and safety culture across the organisation
- Keeping up to date with health and safety legislation and industry best practice

Candidate Requirements
Essential
- A relevant Health & Safety qualification (NEBOSH Level 6 or working towards)
- IOSH membership (TechIOSH or GradIOSH) or willingness to work towards it
- Basic understanding of UK health and safety legislation
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems
- Strong communication skills and a professional approach
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confident IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook)
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required
Desirable
- Awareness of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
- Knowledge of continuous improvement or root cause analysis techniques
- Previous experience through a placement, internship, or relevant work experience
