Purpose of Role
To ensure roofing and cladding systems are installed, inspected, and completed in accordance with project specifications, regulatory standards, and company quality procedures. The QA Assessor is responsible for monitoring workmanship, compliance, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Control & Inspection
- Conduct site inspections of roofing and cladding installations (e.g. metal roofing, rainscreen systems, façade panels).
- Verify works comply with:
- Project specifications and drawings
- Manufacturer installation guidelines
- Relevant standards such as BSI Group and NHBC requirements
- Identify defects, non-conformances, and poor workmanship.
- Issue inspection reports and track corrective actions.
- Compliance & Standards
- Ensure adherence to UK building regulations and standards including:
- Building Regulations 2010
- Construction Industry Training Board best practices
- Monitor compliance with health & safety regulations on site.
- Ensure adherence to UK building regulations and standards including:
- Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain QA records, checklists, and inspection logs.
- Compile handover documentation (O&M manuals, warranties, as-built drawings).
- Produce detailed QA reports for project managers and clients.
- Material & System Verification
- Inspect delivered materials for damage, compliance, and certification.
- Ensure correct storage and handling of roofing/cladding components.
- Verify product traceability and certification (e.g., CE/UKCA marking).
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of roofing and cladding systems (standing seam, composite panels, rainscreen façades).
- Understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Attention to detail and analytical inspection skills.
- Report writing and documentation proficiency.
- Good communication and site coordination abilities.
Qualifications & Experience
- NVQ Level 3+ in Roofing, Cladding, or Construction (or equivalent experience).
- Experience in QA/QC inspection within construction (3–5+ years preferred).
- Knowledge of UK standards and compliance frameworks.
- CSCS card (essential).
- Additional certifications (desirable):
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- Internal Auditor (ISO 9001)
