We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity for a Finance Apprentice to join our Finance team.
This role is ideal for someone looking to begin a career in accounting and finance while gaining a nationally recognised qualification.
Reporting to the Finance Manager, the successful candidate will support the Finance team in delivering an efficient and accurate finance function whilst studying towards the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting.
This apprenticeship will provide practical experience across a range of finance activities, enabling the successful candidate to develop accounting knowledge, business understanding and professional skills within a supportive environment.
This role is based at our Head Office in Ellesmere Port and is primarily site-based.
The successful candidate will attend college on a day-release basis to support completion of the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting .
Key Responsibilities
The Finance Apprentice will
- Process purchase invoices and ensure they are accurately recorded within the accounting system.
- Assist with supplier statement reconciliations and resolve invoice queries.
- Process sales invoices and allocate customer receipts.
- Support credit control activities, including chasing overdue payments where appropriate.
- Assist with bank reconciliations.
- Prepare journals under supervision.
- Help maintain accurate accounting records and filing systems.
- Support month-end procedures, including account reconciliations and reporting.
- Process employee expenses and company credit card transactions.
- Assist with data entry and maintaining financial records with a high degree of accuracy.
- Respond professionally to internal and external finance queries.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial and personal information.
- Participate fully in apprenticeship training and complete all college work and assessments.
- Carry out other administrative and finance duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification
- GCSE Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
- An interest in finance and accounting.
- Good numerical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Willingness to learn and develop professionally.
- Reliable, organised and able to manage deadlines.

- Experience of working in an office or finance environment.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles.
