As Rhino continues to deliver innovative workplace projects across the UK, we are looking for a talented Senior D&B Pitch Designer to join our growing team.

The Role: The Senior D&B Pitch Designer plays a key role in creating high-performing workplace environments that combine creativity, technical excellence and practical deliverability. Working within Rhino's design and build model, the role is responsible for developing innovative, fully coordinated and buildable design solutions that are aligned to the client's brief and budget. Success in this role requires strong spatial design capability, creative thinking, sound technical knowledge, stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to translate complex requirements into clear, compelling and coordinated design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Workplace Strategy & Concept Development

  • Lead client brief discovery sessions to understand client culture, workflows, headcount modelling, and future‑of‑work requirements.
  • Develop concept design options, mood boards, spatial narratives, and workplace zoning strategies.
  • Produce test‑fits, adjacency diagrams, and early feasibility studies to validate client briefs.

Interior Architecture & Technical Design

  • Drawing detailed and creative layouts, GA plans, furniture plans, RCPs, flooring, decoration, finishes schedules, and technical detailing.
  • Coordinate structural, MEP, fire safety, acoustics, and IT/AV requirements with specialist consultants.
  • Ensure all design outputs comply with UK Building Regulations, fire strategy, DSEAR/ATEX (where relevant), accessibility standards, and landlord criteria.

Cross‑Disciplinary Design Coordination

  • Bring together architects, structural engineers, services engineers, and specialist designers to produce coordinated, clash‑free design packages.
  • Manage design workshops, design reviews, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.
  • Ensure design information is accurate, buildable, and aligned with procurement and construction sequencing.

Client Engagement & Presentation

  • Present design concepts, material palettes, 3D visuals, and technical solutions to clients and stakeholders.
  • Translate technical constraints into clear, client‑friendly narratives that build confidence and certainty.
  • Manage design changes, feedback loops, and sign‑off processes.

Compliance, Risk & Quality Assurance

  • Support Principal Designer duties by ensuring design risk management, pre‑construction information, and CDM compliance.
  • Identify design risks early and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct quality reviews of drawings, specifications, and subcontractor design packages.

Collaboration with Delivery Teams

  • Work closely with project managers, estimators, and commercial teams to ensure designs align with budgets and procurement strategies.
  • Provide design intent guidance during construction, including site visits, inspections, and resolution of RFIs.
  • Ensure final built output matches the approved design.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong organisational and time‑management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM (Training Provided), SketchUp, InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Understanding of MEP coordination, building services integration, and construction sequencing.
  • Knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CDM, fire safety, and workplace standards.
  • Strong visual communication and concept development skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple design streams and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving capability.
  • Strong creative abilities to design forward thinking, aesthetic and functional spaces that tell a story and relate conceptually back to specific clients.

Employment Details:

  • Full-time, permanent position
  • Salary: Negotiable, depending on the successful candidate's experience and seniority
  • Hours: 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm
  • Location: This role is based from our Birmingham Central Location, and client/project sites as required
  • Annual Leave: 30 days per year, inclusive of UK public and bank holidays
