The role: The Laboratory Informatics Analyst supports the delivery, configuration, validation and continuous improvement of the Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and related laboratory digital solutions. This role assists in all phases of system implementation from requirements gathering through workshop attendance, process mapping to master data setup, verification and validation as well as user support, and post-go live optimisation. In addition, the role will act as the LIMS Champion and first-line support contact for laboratory users, ensuring smooth system adoption, troubleshooting day-to-day issues, and driving user engagement across laboratory functions.
Responsibilities:
- LIMS Implementation Support – Include/ensure appropriate consolidation of responsibilities, such as supporting integration of laboratory instruments with the LIMS (e.g. Balances/pH meters).
- Assist in testing instrument data capture and automated results transfer.
- Collaborate with IT and vendor to troubleshoot integration issues.
- Participate in system interface validation and verification activities.
- Support configuration testing and documentation.
- Participate in defect tracking and issue resolution.
- Support the delivery and deployment of the new LIMS into operational laboratory environments.
- Contribute to phased implementation activities, including phase 2 expansion into additional laboratory functions.
- Participate in requirement gathering workshops to understand laboratory processes and translate them into system requirements.
Master Data Build & Governance:
- Support the build and maintenance of laboratory master data including test methods/specifications/sample types/stability protocols/instrument records/reagents & consumables.
- Ensure standardisation, naming conventions and metadata consistency.
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and alignment with approved laboratory procedures.
- Map and reconcile master data from legacy systems.
- Validate and verify master data entered into LIMS.
- Assist in establishing master data governance processes.
User Support & Training:
- Act as the primary LIMS champion within the laboratory environment.
- Serve as a first-line, hands-on support for laboratory users.
- Support in the development of training materials / Work Instructions / User Guides / SOP updates.
- Deliver system training to new laboratory users.
- Provide real-time troubleshooting and issue resolution for system-related queries.
- Provide post-go-live support to end users.
- Log, categorise, and escalate technical issues where required.
- Support communication plans.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement:
- Develop dashboards and KPI reports within LIMS or associated reporting tools.
- Generate summaries of laboratory performance data.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives post-implementation.
- Identify opportunities for automation and further digitalisation.
Authority (if applicable):
- Permitted to review and approve documentation within their defined responsibilities provided they have the appropriate skill set, competency and training.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience working in a laboratory or scientific environment (Preferably Medical Devices or Pharma).
- Knowledge of relevant regulations (GxP, ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 11).
- Understanding of laboratory processes, testing workflows and sample management.
- Ability to interpret laboratory test methods and specifications.
- Basic knowledge of LIMS or other laboratory systems (LabVantage, LES/ELN desirable).
- Strong data handling and documentation skills.
- Basic understanding of system validation lifecycle (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Strong analytical skills, with a dynamic mindset and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Collaborative team player.
Qualifications/Education:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a scientific or engineering discipline (e.g. chemistry, Biology, Computer Science, or related field).
- At least 3+ years of relevant experience in life sciences or laboratory informatics, IT or a related field.
- Microsoft Office skills are essential.
