Position Overview
The Finance Business Partner, UK & Ireland is a key role within the Europe Finance team. Acting as co‑pilot to the business leader(s), your key accountability is to partner with your Commercial Business Director, Advanced Wound Care to drive commercial performance outcomes against plans, forecasts, and strategic objectives. This is an individual contributor role and reports to the Senior Finance Director Advanced Wound Care, Europe. You will be a trusted and relied upon partner, respected for your commercial acumen and your ability to provide succinct but powerful storytelling, with actionable insight.
You will be the face of Finance for your business stakeholders, connecting them, where appropriate, with your finance colleagues within CBS (Convatec Business Services) or the wider Finance team to solve the problems that don’t fall within the accountabilities of the FBP e.g., statutory accounting, tax and controlling activities. You will be an advocate for the Finance Service Delivery Model, helping your stakeholders understand the new ways of working in Finance.
You will be a leader within the Finance organization, pro‑actively sharing your business knowledge and commercial acumen with the FP&A team members to build enduring capability.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Commercial Director to deliver sustainable and profitable growth for the business unit, jointly driving P&L performance, Sales, EBIT, revenue growth, cash flow optimization, and overall commercial outcomes against plans, forecasts, and strategic objectives.
- Partner with the Commercial Director Advanced Wound Care and BU leadership to develop the long‑term Strategic Plan, Annual Operating Plan (AOP), budgets, and forecasts; provide strategic direction on goals, risks, opportunities, and tactical initiatives while ensuring robustness of plans to Senior Finance Director Advanced Wound Care Europe.
- Translate strategy into short‑, medium‑, and long‑term financial and non‑financial targets and KPIs; establish clear frameworks for patient modelling, lead indicators, competitive benchmarking, and a balanced scorecard approach to monitor performance, identify gaps, and drive timely interventions.
- As the face of Finance to the BU, connect business stakeholders with the appropriate people in CBS (Convatec Business Services) or wider Finance. The CBS RTR, PTP and OTC teams take care of all accounting operations. Control issues are managed by the BU Controller. The FBP is not responsible or accountable for solving accounting (or tax/treasury) issues, but does act as a conduit between the business, external authorities and wider finance team.
- The CBS FP&A team will prepare annual operating plans (AOP) and forecasts. The FBP will provide direction on strategic goals, opportunities and risks as well as input on any other strategic or tactical initiatives that the FP&A team are not aware of. The FBP will also provide assurance of the robustness of the AOP/forecast to the VP Finance.
- Assessing & continuously improving the current state of available marketing analytics and performance capabilities define the future state and develop a practical, measurable roadmap to reach the desired state, in close collaboration with the relevant cross‑functional teams.
- Understanding the role of Performance Marketing in the overall P&L and play a strategic role in driving profitable growth for the Advanced Wound Care business unit.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of post‑qualification experience in Finance;
- Commercial acumen / understanding of market drivers and dynamics in the UK.
- Ideally should have demonstrated experience of driving business turnarounds, developed growth strategies and partnered Sales / Commercial Teams in driving return on marketing investments;
- Preferable previous finance business partnering experience in a Pharma / MedTech, consumer environment;
- Should have good interpersonal skills, analytical ability and have the gravitas of managing senior business stakeholders;
- Working Knowledge of SAP / Hyperion / Power BI would be an added advantage;
- Ability to develop effective relationships and maintain constructive communication across wide spectrum of internal stakeholders in a matrix environment;
- Ability to see the “big picture”, with attention to detail where necessary;
- Strong storytelling and networking capabilities;
- Analytical ability to assess complex business cases and commercial agreements;
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, matrixed, and global environment.
Qualifications/Education
- Master’s degree in business, Finance or Economics.
This is a hybrid role, linked to our headquarter in London, Paddington. This position will require travel up to 10% of the time.
