Operations Manager in Nuneaton

Responsibilities include establishing and maintaining a safe working environment for all employees, contractors, and visitors. Ensure warehouse housekeeping is maintained to 5S standards and audit scores are upheld. Risk Assessments, Safe Systems of Work, and Standard Operating Procedures must be maintained and updated accordingly. Ensure cost-effective methods of operations are used while achieving the level of service to customers.

Ensure that the Rhenus warehouse is adequately staffed to manage all areas to meet customer SLAs and KPIs. Create site stockholding and operational work areas to maximise site capacity. Maintain accuracy and integrity of inventory both systematically and physically. Manage relevant stocktakes and audits within agreed deadlines.

Accountable for ensuring any new initiatives, new customers, or projects are implemented and expected deliverables are achieved. Monitor and control assets within the relevant site. Support and implement continuous improvement programmes throughout operations. Develop colleagues to ensure continued performance and growth of the business.

Maintain employee communications, including team briefs conducted across all shift patterns and appropriate interactions with direct reports. Drive high levels of employee engagement. KPI targets include zero lost time accidents, reporting on incidents, accidents, and near misses relating to Health & Safety, operational costs delivered to budget, quality and service metrics delivered to customer and business standards, and employee engagement ratings delivered to required standards.

Ensure that time sheets are up to date, complete daily reports, and manage labour statistics. Monitor all on-site contracts and support services to ensure they provide high-quality service in a cost-effective manner and within agreed budgets. Ensure effective maintenance and housekeeping of the Rhenus site to support customer service requirements.

Manage and conduct work activities to prevent any improper conduct or behaviour likely to endanger employees. Maintain good employee relations with an effective workforce throughout the site with the support of the HR function. Work in partnership with the IT department to provide resources to function within the operations KPIs. Ensure site security is maintained and manage accidents and incidents to prevent risk and injury to all persons attending the site.

Manage and lead the operational team, ensuring they have the relevant skill sets, resources, and support needed to deliver in their role and achieve site objectives. Lead the operational team consistently with the culture and core values of the business. Train and develop colleagues to ensure they are equipped to perform their roles effectively and in accordance with company operating procedures.

Support ongoing development for colleagues and operational management with the assistance of the HR training function. Meet and improve on agreed quality standards through effective and efficient utilisation of labour and MHE equipment. Conduct appropriate probationary reviews and personal performance reviews (PPRs) within agreed deadlines set by the business. Set team objectives and targets aligned to the business plan and support the implementation of site engagement plans.

Assist and develop employee listening groups, identify, develop, and retain talent within the business. Manage change throughout the business. KPIs include employee survey results, PPR completion, engagement plans, and training and development strategy.

Qualifications: GCSE Maths and English grade B or above or equivalent, Logistics/Warehouse Management Qualifications Level 4 or above, full driving licence, IT skills including advanced Microsoft Excel, ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines, experience of implementing processes, ability to work in a fast-paced people environment, great communicator, positive attitude, teamwork and information management, process improvement, innovation CI & 5S, 2 years' experience in an Operations Manager role within Distribution/Logistics, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, warehouse management systems, awareness of Health & Safety legislation, project working group/project management, exposure to implementing new systems, proactive approach to own continuous development, experience of new customer implementations and start-ups.
