At OMNIA Training, we’ve brought together some of the UK’s most innovative defence training organisations into a single consortium to deliver one powerful mission: to transform the British Army’s training system and create the best-trained Army in the world.

OMNIA Training will redefine the British Army’s collective training, standing up as the Army’s Strategic Training Partner. To do that, we are looking for the best and brightest minds from across the UK. We are backed by British innovation and powered by world‑class experts.

This is more than a job — it’s a mission. You will be part of a high‑impact, collaborative environment, where we expect everyone to live the values and standards of the British Army. Every person in our team plays a critical role in delivering OMNIA Training’s vision; designing, delivering, and transforming collective training so the British Army is ready to fight and win.

The Enterprise Architect will define and govern the strategic architecture underpinning complex Defence systems and services. The role ensures alignment across solution design, configuration management, data integration (including Government‑Furnished Information), and enterprise‑level architectural principles. This role requires deep engagement with system and data architecture, secure‑by‑design practices, configuration control, and planning for legacy data migration into the Defence Developer Services (D2S1) environment. You will also contribute to governance forums, maintain architecture artefacts, and ensure traceability across the system lifecycle.

The role offers the opportunity to lead and shape the architectural direction of trial and test activities, working within advanced simulation and integration environments. You will collaborate closely with engineering, acquisition, and operational teams across Defence to ensure that capability architectures are validated, interoperable with legacy systems, and aligned with strategic objectives. Your contributions will be critical in assuring readiness for service, enabling data‑driven decision‑making, and supporting the deployment of cutting‑edge simulation training systems through robust, secure, and scalable architectures.

Skills

  • Degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Defence Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as an Enterprise Architect within Defence, government, or other regulated domains.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management, system integration, and data architecture in complex, secure environments.
  • Experience developing architecture artefacts using Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Sparx EA, ArchiMate 3.1., or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of standards‑based architectural frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, MODAF).
  • Experience with handling and planning for legacy data migration, including working with Government‑Furnished Information (GFI) or equivalent third‑party data sets and sources.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality management, and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) planning.
  • Familiarity with Secure-by-Design principles, accreditation processes (e.g., RMADS), and cybersecurity standards applicable to Defence or secure systems.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and ability to influence governance and decision‑making forums.

Desired, would be helpful for the role

  • Experience working with MOD or Army platforms, systems, or data environments (e.g., D2S, Army Data Warehouse).
  • Understanding of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), RAM targets, and through‑life support integration.
  • Exposure to DevSecOps practices, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) in secure environments.
  • Familiarity with safety and environmental assurance practices, including ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable).

We’re looking for a proactive and pragmatic Enterprise Architect who thrives in complex, regulated Defence environments and takes ownership of delivering secure, scalable, and standards‑aligned architectural solutions. You’ll be someone who understands the importance of aligning technical architecture with real‑world operational needs, ensuring that capabilities are not only compliant, but also interoperable, sustainable, and effective in the hands of the Army.

Whether you have direct experience in Defence or transferable skills from a similar field, success in this role will require you to navigate both high‑level strategic frameworks and detailed technical models, from governing data flows and system interfaces to contributing to security and accreditation reviews. Strong interpersonal skills are essential, as you’ll collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, military stakeholders, and industry partners to shape, document, and evolve architectures that underpin critical training and simulation systems.

As OMNIA, we are looking for individuals who want to serve. You’ll have a mission focus, and the enthusiasm and drive to ‘get things done’. You’ll want to work in collaboration with other defence training organisations, and the British Army. You won’t let bureaucracy get in the way of what needs to be done, you’ll learn lessons and share these lessons across the team. You won’t necessarily have a military background, but you’ll understand what it means to serve and to put the mission first.
