The predicted salary is between 42000 - 84000 ÂŁ per year.
This is a strategic and day‑to‑day role of key importance to the business. Business growth is very strong, and the continued development of a safe working environment and culture supported by a strategic facilities plan is critical to support that growth. The role will have ownership and accountability for all HSE activities across our two main sites, for personnel based at other Rheinmetall sites and for all activities completed by REUK personnel on any customer or supplier sites. The site is currently preparing for ISO14001 and ISO45001 certification and this role will be the lead for both activities.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Establish, implement and maintain HSE programmes required by safety, health and environmental regulations and corporate requirements, aligned to the Rheinmetall HSE Framework, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Create and implement a Facilities Plan aligned to the site strategy.
- Act as the day‑to‑day point of contact for all facilities requirements and improvements.
- Control of all relevant visitors (e.g., contractors) ensuring all relevant documentation is in place such as RAMS.
- Develop a continuous improvement plan for HSE and facilities aligned to site strategy, driving a Zero incident culture.
- Act as interface with the Rheinmetall HSE team and ensure all flow‑downs and initiatives are implemented by the site.
- Assist the COO with providing timely guidance on matters pertaining to safety and environmental protection or concerning apparent or potential HSE problems and recommend courses of action to avert or correct these problems.
- Compile accurate records required by local and national government regulations relative to the HSE effort and prepare reports and recommendations for management review.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge and advise department management of changes in government policies and regulations.
- Prepare and maintain the site’s HSE Management systems, Manuals, Policies and Procedures for regular management review.
- Assist in the evaluation, development, and conduct of HSE orientation, education, and training for employees, supervisors and managers.
- Review specifications and plans for new operations/activities, including layouts, materials, chemicals, machinery, as well as proposed construction or demolition, to assure that appropriate HSE standards are applied.
- Maintain appropriate HSE records and submit reports of accidents, injuries and incidents to management, government and insurance agencies showing costs, causes and corrective actions taken within agreed time‑scales.
- Provide support to facility Emergency Response groups and maintain good public relations with local civil emergency response offices (HSE/EHO Officers).
- Ensure compliance with all HSE Local and National regulations by ensuring site leadership carry out regular safety tours of the facilities and by conducting site and facility audits against current regulations and corporate requirements.
- Implementation of Eticor (compliance tool) requirements.
- Support local HR management with delivering a suitable occupational health‑monitoring programme.
- Assist HR management with development and implementation of wellness and health promotion programmes.
- Perform related duties or special projects within your capabilities, and as directed by COO and/or MD.
- Be a member of Ops leadership team and support peers and other leaders within the business as required.
- Any other reasonable responsibility or duty suited to the individual’s capabilities.
Skills and Experience Required
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in efficiently running an Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) programme.
- In‑depth understanding of HSE management systems including ISO 45001/14001.
- Ability to demonstrate successful HSE performance through a continual improvement culture.
- Experience and familiarity of working within a matrix organisational structure with a corporate‑driven environment, health & safety programme.
Qualifications
- NEBOSH IGC in Occupational Safety and Health or equivalent.
- Certification in Environmental management.
- Certified ISO Internal auditor or a minimum of 3 years’ experience auditing processes in a changing environment.
