What We Are Looking For
The Head of Marketing and Communications role oversees the Marketing function and manages all internal and external Communications.
The Head of Marketing and Communications ensures REUK promotes its products and capabilities to existing and new customers in the most effective manner.
This should be captured through the REUK Operational Marketing strategy.
The role holder should ideally be familiar and comfortable with high-technology product sales in the military, defence and homeland security markets.
The role does not require deep familiarity and technical knowledge of the defence industry and defence electronics, although such knowledge would be of advantage.
The role will be the main point of contact for the department within REUK’s division, business unit and within the corporate communications organisation.
This will require regular communications with departments and companies across the Rheinmetall Group.
This role will be located primarily at REUK’s offices in Newport, Isle of Wight, with occasional work in Southampton offices if required by the business.
REUK also operates a flexible working policy, allowing home working in line with this policy, once training has been completed.
The post is offered as a part-time position (20 hours per week).
REUK employees have the option to finish early on a Friday, as part of the company’s flexible working policy.
Very occasional travel, both in the UK and internationally, may be required for events and other marketing-related activities.
This position will be responsible for the line management of the Marketing Assistant, delivering appraisal reporting, support and guidance.
Responsibilties
- Preparing and implementing the yearly operational marketing strategy in conjunction with the Business Development, Sales and Strategy Director
• Managing the external presence of the company including
- Managing the REUK presence on the Rheinmetall website
- Managing the company’s presence at exhibitions, working with the Marketing Assistant to develop exhibition materials as required
- Creation of press releases and advertising, working with the corporate communications team to ensure compliance with Rheinmetall policies and procedures
- The development and release of white papers
- Development and creation of video material
- Coordination of social media content
- Development of brochures and datasheets
- Overseeing the purchase of give-aways and company-branded clothing
- Budget management
- Overseeing internal communications, including articles for Rheinmetall apps
- Coordination of product photography
- Managing the conference and exhibitions schedule alongside the Marketing Assistant
- When required, presenting the company to prospective customers through on and off-site visits, exhibitions, conferences and seminars
- Providing Marketing budgetary input to the company’s annual budget review, reporting and controlling budget spend with the Director BD, Sales and Strategy
- Providing market input into the annual business plan
- Ensuring that company quality procedures are observed
- Provide project support where required
- Maintenance and compliance with corporate guidelines and policies regarding marketing and communications
- Generation of schedules and plans in line with the company’s strategic plan
- Other ad-hoc duties as required.

- What Qualifications You Should Have
Essential Skills
- Proven experience in Marketing and Communications in a similar outward-facing role
- Experienced copywriter, fluent English speaker
- Excellent written communication skills, experience of using a range of communication methods (email, chat services (Microsoft Teams etc.), phone etc.)
- Experience of using standard computer packages including Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook
- Excellent interpersonal skills; confident in dealing with enquiries and contacts from both internal and external sources
- Ability to work on several projects at the same time for a variety of stakeholders, without faltering on quality
- Ability to lead teams, influence and communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders at all levels within the business
- Desire for continuous improvement and learning; REUK supports education and learning for its staff
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of military, defence and homeland security markets
- High familiarity with the needs and drivers of an ISO9000-accredited defence manufacturing company
- Experienced and qualified in Marketing, Communications, Business Management or other similar subjects
