WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are currently recruiting for Trials Engineer to join our Engineering Team. It is 18 months fixed term contract role. Your role will be to manage and conduct a variety of sub-system or vehicle level trials. Day to day tasks include developing detailed test plans from systems requirements, management of external test houses and trials resources, conducting analysis and reporting test results, and ensuring the safe and technically sound delivery of trials. This role is based in Telford due to the security classification and data storage requirements of the hardware under test. Though at times the successful applicant should also expect to spend significant time working away from home supporting and conducting trials. Position Duties and Responsibilities Conducting and working to risk assessments and safe systems of work. Ensuring the safety of the trials in accordance with the RBSL Health & Safety Policy. Planning of tests including authoring of specifications and reports in accordance with ISO and Defence Standards; working closely with project managers to schedule activities. Presenting work and conducting pre-trial reviews with directors and senior project stakeholders. Ensuring the robust and repeatable verification and validation of military vehicle sub-systems by working as part of a team to deliver a wide range of tests such as: Functional testing, Reliability, Survivability, Lethality, and Environmental (hot/cold/dust/shock/vibration). Conducting root cause investigations to diagnose and resolve issues. This may include reviewing video or data sources, interrogating vehicle systems, or reviewing and understanding sensor data output from trials. Conducting analysis and / or reviewing results. Maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders including internal, MOD and suppliers. Authoring technical reports, presenting the findings from the aforementioned tests and investigations. WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE What Qualifications and Experience You Should Have Essential Applicants must be capable of holding SC level security clearance and must be a UK national only. Degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical or Electrical engineering. Sound technical engineering skills and willingness to learn. General understanding of component, sub-system, and vehicle testing. Experience of report writing, either academic or industrial. Mindful and aware of dangers to health and safety. Hold a Full UK Drivers Licence. Proficient user of MS Office.Desirable Experience working with technical specifications and systems requirements. Knowledge or experience of testing armour or weapon systems. Knowledge or experience of shock and vibration testing. Knowledge of instrumentation and data capture devices. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
