Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land (RBSL) is a defence engineering company based in the UK. We design, manufacture and support military vehicles used by the British Army and international customers.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to Trials Engineering Lead. The role is based from our Telford site although the candidate should expect significant amounts of travel, to various locations around the UK and abroad including both civilian and military test sites, as the CR2 LEP Programme progresses.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Responsible for working closely with engineering domain subject matter experts to develop and release an agreed Detailed Trials Plan.
  • Support Domain Engineers to ensure the System Requirements are correctly mapped to the appropriate trials to support positive acceptance outcomes.
  • Responsible for generating Trials Readiness Review artefacts, presenting to internal and external stakeholders, and managing TRR action closure evidence.
  • Responsible for the safety of personnel on the trials in accordance with the RBSL Health & Safety Policy and any extant external health and safety requirements e.g. facility’s standing orders, Safe Systems of Work or local rules.
  • Managing relationships with key stakeholders at all levels including internal, Army, MOD, DIO Ranges and suppliers.
  • Ensuring that information and assets are handled in accordance with their security classifications and that Trial sites have adequate provisions in place to handle the classification of equipment.
  • Working closely with the Trials Engineering Lead and Project Lead to manage time, cost, and resources for their trial’s activities.
  • Planning, executing, and reporting on verification and validation activities.
  • Leading the deployed team to safely deliver accurate and repeatable tests and successful completion of trials activities.
  • Reporting on the technical completion of the trial, highlighting all observations and incidents that occurred, authoring daily trials reports and test reports.

What Qualifications You Should Have

  • You must hold a degree in a relevant engineering discipline or have equivalent experience.
  • You must have experience in verification and validation activities within the Military Land Equipment domain.
  • You must have experience in writing technical reports, for example test plans or trial reports.
  • You should have a firm understanding of system and subsystem requirements and acceptance activities.
  • You should have experience in working with third party test facilities e.g. Malvern Optic, Particle Technology, Thales Wells.
  • Experience on the Challenger 2 platform design or operation, or other similar Armoured Fighting Vehicles, is highly desirable.
  • Experience with the specification, installation and running of data acquisition equipment and an understanding of instrumentation principles is desirable.
