Rhames is a contract manufacturing company providing engineering solutions across a range of metal and alloy products.
We operate from a 20,000‑sq‑ft industrial facility and pride ourselves on flexibility, innovative design, and bespoke fabrication services.
Responsibilities
- Work as an apprentice fabricator/welder under the guidance of an experienced mentor.
- Perform welding, cutting, reshaping, folding, and laser cutting of sheet metal.
- Use CAD software and various CNC machinery for fabrication tasks.
- Conduct food‑grade standard polishing and assembly fitting.
- Follow engineering instructions accurately across a variety of material thicknesses.
Qualifications
- GCSE in Maths and English (grade 4‑9 recommended).
- Interest in metal work and a willingness to learn welding and fabrication skills.
- Strong hand‑eye coordination, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
- Effective communication, customer care, presentation, and teamwork abilities.
- Creative initiative and a patient, non‑judgmental approach.
- Training & Outcome
Training is delivered through Nottingham College (Course: Metal Fabricator, Level 3).
The apprenticeship programme lasts 3years9months and includes further training such as in‑house coded welding, PASMA/IPAF, overhead crane training, and other external courses.
Upon successful completion, a permanent role may be offered.
Working Arrangements
Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm with a 30‑minute unpaid lunch break. The apprenticeship schedule is structured to combine classroom learning with on‑the‑job training.
