The successful Strategic Procurement Manager will play a key role in driving supplier performance, delivering cost reduction initiatives, managing supply chain risk, and leading complex commercial negotiations across a global supplier base. The Opportunity
This is a fast-paced and hands‑on role where the Strategic Procurement Manager will take ownership of supplier relationships, sourcing strategies, and commercial activities across assigned commodity categories. You will be expected to proactively identify opportunities for cost savings, supplier consolidation, and process improvement, while ensuring continuity of supply and minimising operational risk. The business is seeking someone who is commercially astute, highly driven, and confident working autonomously within a dynamic manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies that deliver cost reduction, supplier optimisation, and long‑term commercial value
- Lead supplier negotiations, pricing agreements, and contract management activities to achieve favourable commercial outcomes
- Drive risk management initiatives by identifying supply chain vulnerabilities and implementing contingency plans
- Manage supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and innovation metrics
- Identify and onboard new suppliers to support business growth and operational resilience
- Deliver value engineering and continuous improvement projects that support profitability targets
- Analyse market trends, raw material movements, and supply chain risks to support strategic decision‑making
- Drive supplier and SKU rationalisation programmes to strengthen procurement efficiency
- Maintain accurate purchasing and pricing data within ERP systems, including M3
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Operations, Finance, and Quality teams to support business objectives
- Ensure adherence to Health & Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards, including ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949
About You
To be successful in this role, you will already be operating at Strategic Procurement Manager level or within a senior procurement position where you have demonstrated strong commercial impact through negotiation, supplier management, and cost‑saving initiatives. You will be a confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels and build strong supplier partnerships while maintaining a sharp commercial focus.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Degree qualified in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a procurement, sourcing, or commercial role
- Proven experience delivering measurable cost reduction programmes
- Strong background in supplier negotiations and contract management
- Experience managing supply chain and supplier risk within a manufacturing environment
- Excellent commercial awareness and financial acumen
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems, ideally M3
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Self‑motivated, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Automotive or advanced manufacturing sector experience
- Understanding of supply chain and logistics processes
- Knowledge of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and IATF 16949 standards
