Are you an experienced Controls Engineer looking to take the next step in your career within a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment? We are working with a well-established and growing business seeking a talented Controls Engineer to join their engineering team.
This role is conveniently located within easy commuting distance of Hull, Goole, Scunthorpe and Grimsby, making it an excellent opportunity for a skilled Controls Engineer across the region.
The RoleAs a Controls Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining, improving, and supporting automated production systems. You’ll be instrumental in ensuring equipment reliability, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement across the site.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and support automated production equipment including PLCs, HMIs, drives, sensors, and control panels.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and control system faults to minimise disruption.
- Modify and enhance PLC and HMI programmes to improve performance and reliability.
- Support commissioning of new machinery and control systems.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers and production teams to identify root causes of issues.
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on electrical systems.
- Assist with control system upgrades and automation projects.
- Ensure compliance with UK electrical standards and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation including schematics and maintenance records.
- Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues on site.
- HNC/HND, Degree or equivalent in Electrical or Control Engineering.
- Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and variable speed drives.
- Proven electrical fault-finding skills on automated machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Good understanding of industrial safety standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
- Experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley or Mitsubishi PLCs.
- Knowledge of industrial networks (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus).
- Experience with SCADA systems.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
- Exposure to robotics or advanced automation.
- Proactive and solutions-driven.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on safety.
- Confident communicator and team player.
- Able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
- Flexible to support production when required.
- Circa £50,000 per annum (depending on experience).
