Ideally, you will have knowledge of the HE sector, student recruitment, and the UCAS application process. You should also have good organisational and time management skills, as you will support the organisation of numerous events annually.

The starting salary is typically at the bottom of the scale, but exceptional candidates may be considered for a higher scale. RESPONSIBLE TO: UK Recruitment Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR: No supervisory or management responsibilities

PURPOSE OF THE POST: To assist in coordinating and delivering recruitment outreach activities and events, and to develop the University's links with partners such as schools and colleges.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Represent the University at recruitment events such as Higher Education Exhibitions and careers fairs across the UK and Ireland.
  • Assist with the coordination and delivery of student recruitment activities, focusing on school pupil engagement, liaising with stakeholders, pupils, and partners to ensure success.
  • Develop and deliver resources for workshops and presentations related to student recruitment and outreach events.
  • Evaluate activities to ensure successful delivery and outcomes.
  • Build positive relationships with prospective applicants and school pupils.
  • Ensure activities are well-organized with logistical arrangements made timely.
  • Promote study opportunities and engagement routes like Degree Link and other access programs.
  • Maintain notes of meetings and keep project files up to date.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in a relevant subject or relevant experience
  • Understanding of higher education
  • Awareness of the UK Student Recruitment Team's remit
  • Proficiency with standard IT packages (e.g., Word, PowerPoint)
  • Commitment to personal development of young people
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students across secondary school years
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends
  • Willingness and ability to travel widely across Scotland and the UK
