Job Summary

Are you passionate about supporting student pharmacists and fostering professional development in a dynamic and evolving educational environment? The School of Pharmacy, Applied Sciences and Public Health are looking for a Regional Tutor (North) to join our Professional Experiences team and play a pivotal role in supporting the development and delivery of high-quality experiential learning experiences for student pharmacists.

You will have the opportunity to shape the future of pharmacy education whilst working in a collaborative and supportive team environment.

You will be a practising pharmacist, ideally with experience in education or training. You should have experience in developing, delivering and supporting learning activities and comfortable working flexibly, including occasional travel.

We are open to exploring flexible working models. This role can be structured under a Service Level Agreement with employers, allowing you to retain your current employment while contributing to RGU\’s experiential learning programme. The role is part-time, requiring two days per week and is primarily a remote working position, with requirements to visit EL placement sites and the RGU campus as needed. Desk space on campus can be arranged if required. The role is offered as fixed term for 12 months in the first instance.

Job Description

RESPONSIBLE TO: Dean of School

RESPONSIBLE FOR: No line management responsibility

PURPOSE OF POST: To play a pivotal role in supporting the development and delivery of high-quality experiential learning experiences for student pharmacists.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

Experiential Learning (EL):

Pre-EL Weeks: Work locally to co-ordinate and co-produce preparatory student learning sessions and encourage innovative learning initiatives with relevance to, and input from, the current practice environment.

During EL Weeks: Provide on-the-ground support to facilitators and student pharmacists, respond to arising issues, and complete post-visit

Post-EL Weeks: Follow up on issues, confirm attendance, collate and follow up feedback processes, and contribute to national reporting and governance processes. Teaching Delivery:

Lead and support a range of sessions across all year groups, including:

Module inductions, assessments, and professional experiences (e.g. simulations on campus).

Online practice tutor groups and professional development seminars.

On-campus pre-EL placement workshops.

Supporting module teams to deliver learning linked to reflective practice and the pharmaceutical calculations topic.

Contribute to the development and delivery of teaching materials as required Timetable Planning:

Collaborate with the team to plan and implement effective timetabling. Assessment and Marking:

Assessment of student pharmacists\’ pharmaceutical calculations skills.

Support portfolio assessments using Turas and Moodle, including review of Global feedback, Mini-CEX, and CBD as appropriate.

Assessment of student pharmacists\’ reflective writing.

Assist with marking and general module administration. Governance and Operational Support:

Support occupational health referrals and processes for student pharmacists.

Match student pharmacists to placement sites at key points in the academic year.

Represent RGU at online NES Preparation for Experiential Learning (PFEL) facilitator training events and participate in occasional evening webinars.

Represent RGU at Pharmacy Practice Support Network (PPSN) quarterly online meetings. Events and Engagement:

Support stakeholder engagement, student recruitment, and curriculum development events. Technical and Administrative Support:

Use RGU systems and MS Teams to communicate effectively and manage resources in compliance with GDPR.

Manage your practice and RGU roles in relation to GDPR, Service Level Agreement (SLA) and the relevant educational agreement for EL.

Co-ordinate with internal contacts for expenses and logistics.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications and Professional Memberships

MPharm (or equivalent) pharmacy degree GPhC Registrant

Knowledge

Understanding of educational methods and learning styles relevant to healthcare professionals

Awareness of new GPhC standards for initial education and training of pharmacists

Experience

Up-to-date and current clinical practice experience

Experience in developing, delivering and supporting learning activities

DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS
