We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and highly motivated lecturer to join our academic community and contribute to our data science and analytics offerings. This role presents a unique opportunity to inspire and equip students with the skills to scope, manage, and deliver data-driven projects using advanced analytics tools, methodologies, and data management technologies. We are looking for an exceptional communicator with extensive expertise in business and data analytics, demonstrated through teaching, research, or professional experience.
You will foster collaborative partnerships with academic institutions, businesses, charities, and public sector organizations. You will contribute to advancing research and teaching in this dynamic field, with opportunities to publish high-impact research, secure funding, and engage with interdisciplinary collaborations. Grade 7 Salary Scale: £39,355 - 45,163 / Grade 8 Salary Scale: £46,485 - 55,755. Salary on appointment will be dependent upon experience. Candidates with limited or no prior experience as an academic will be placed on the first point of the Grade 7 scale. Consideration will be given to offering an Academic Attraction Payment for those candidates who have specific industry knowledge, skills or expertise which are required for the position.
This post is subject to the individual being required to join the PVG scheme. As per the UKVI immigration rules, this role may be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Dean of School

PURPOSE OF POST: Delivery of taught provision and contribution to applicable research.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as directed by the Dean of School.
- Develop and deliver high-quality educational content.
- Devise and deliver assessments and examinations as required.
- Participate in subject and course development.
- Participate in curriculum development and contribute to the introduction of new methods of teaching and learning.
- Provide tutorial and personal guidance for students.
- Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
- Undertake research activity contributing to one or more of the identified research areas.
- Apply for and obtain external research funding.
- Publish high-quality research outputs that contribute to the research impact of the School.
- Actively pursue and/or encourage research activities.
- Contribute to the School research strategy and research groups.
- Contribute to recruitment, promotion and outreach delivery as directed by the Dean of School.
- Establish and maintain relevant professional and industrial links, as necessary.
- Undertake administrative duties as directed by the Dean of School.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- PhD (or close to completion) in Computing, Business Analytics, Data Science or closely related field.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Data Science and Analytics.
- Funding or publication success appropriate to early career staff (Grade 7) or established researcher (Grade 8).
- Understanding of the discipline of Business and Data Analytics through either practice-based or academic teaching/research experience.
DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of Data Science and Analytics with a focus on healthcare analytics.
- Knowledge of professional body requirements, codes of conduct and industry practices.
- Knowledge of higher education practices and procedures.
- Experience of course or module development at HE level.
- Experience of quality assurance processes including moderation and peer review.
- Experience of developing outreach and recruitment activities.
- Evidence sustainable research activity.
- Experience and demonstrable funding in industrial focused research or other research engagement.
