A well-established aerospace and defence manufacturing business is seeking an experienced CNC Miller Setter / Operator to join its precision machine shop team based in Romford. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled aerospace machinist with strong 4-axis and 5-axis milling experience to join a growing business manufacturing high-quality precision components for demanding industries.

Working within a modern and well-equipped machining environment, you will be responsible for setting and operating advanced CNC milling machinery while ensuring components are manufactured to the highest quality standards.

The Role

  • Set and operate CNC milling machines including: Matsuura 5-axis machining centres, Mori Seiki horizontal machining centres, Haas VMCs
  • Manufacture precision aerospace and defence components to tight tolerances
  • Work from engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Carry out multi-datum setting and complex offset adjustments
  • Ensure components meet customer and quality requirements
  • Support continuous production within a fast-paced machine shop environment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot machine or process issues when required
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety, and quality

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience as a CNC Miller Setter / Operator
  • Strong 4-axis and 5-axis machining experience
  • Aerospace or defence manufacturing background preferred
  • Experience with Fanuc controls
  • Good working knowledge of: Matsuura, Haas, Mori Seiki machinery
  • Ability to set machines right first time
  • Experience working to tight tolerances and complex engineering drawings
  • Mechanical engineering qualification, ONC/HND, apprenticeship, or equivalent experience
  • Strong attention to detail and quality-focused mindset
  • Positive and team-oriented attitude
