Immediate opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Installation Supervisor / Lead Mechanical Engineer to join a growing engineering organisation delivering large-scale industrial installation projects across the UK. This is a hands-on leadership role combining mechanical installation work with site supervision responsibilities. You will lead installation teams delivering complex mechanical projects across industrial facilities, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest engineering standards.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will take responsibility for coordinating mechanical installation activities on industrial sites, supervising engineers and ensuring work is delivered safely, on time and in line with project specifications. The position is based in the West Midlands with travel to projects across the UK when required.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervising mechanical installation teams on industrial engineering projects
- Installing, modifying and maintaining mechanical equipment and systems
- Coordinating labour resources and supporting project delivery on site
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with RAMS and site safety procedures
- Working within Permit to Work systems on customer sites
- Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, layouts and schematics
- Monitoring installation progress and reporting issues, risks or variations
- Completing installation reports and associated project documentation
- Ensuring all tools, lifting equipment and machinery are certified and compliant
- Supporting site surveys and assisting with installation planning
- Maintaining strong working relationships with engineers, project managers and contractors
Required Experience
- Minimum 5+ years experience in industrial mechanical installations
- Experience working with conveyors, pneumatics and mechanical fitting
- Experience supervising engineers or installation teams
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and layout schematics
- Experience working with Risk Assessments and Method Statements
- Experience with rigging, slinging and overhead crane operations
- Background in mechanical piping, steel structures and mechanical-civil interfaces
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Experience using IT systems for reporting, job planning and timesheets
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Flexibility to travel and work away when required
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- CSCS Card
- Overhead Crane / Rigging / Slinging certification

- RTITB Forklift Licence
- IPAF / MEWP (3a / 3b)
