We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a well-established and growing engineering and manufacturing business based in East Sussex. This is a great opportunity to join a technically strong team with a solid pipeline of projects, working on a variety of electrical systems and equipment used across industrial and infrastructure applications.

The role would suit someone with experience in electrical design, control panels, switchgear, or power distribution systems, who is looking to work across the full project lifecycle in a hands-on engineering environment.

  • Electrical design of control panels, electrical systems, or power distribution equipment
  • Producing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
  • Supporting design for manufacture (DFM) to ensure designs are practical and efficient to build
  • Working closely with manufacturing, production, and test teams
  • Supporting new product introduction (NPI) from concept through to production
  • Assisting with fault finding, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal engineering teams

Experience required:

  • Experience as an Electrical Design Engineer, Electrical Engineer, or Control Panel Design Engineer
  • Background in control panels, switchgear, or electrical systems design
  • Ability to produce electrical drawings and schematics
  • Experience or exposure to 2D / 3D CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar)
  • Understanding of design for manufacture and production processes
  • Knowledge of electrical standards (BS EN / IEC desirable)
  • HNC / HND / Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Experience with SolidWorks (preferred) or other 3D CAD packages
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar
  • Exposure to manufacturing, industrial, or infrastructure projects
  • Knowledge of testing, commissioning, or installation
  • Experience working in electro-mechanical environments
