Tax Manager to join a growing, forward-thinking accountancy and business advisory firm.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious tax professional who enjoys combining technical tax advisory work with client relationship management and team development .

Working closely with Partners and an experienced Tax team, you'll manage and advise a varied portfolio of larger and more complex clients, with a particular focus on owner-managed businesses (OMBs) .

The Role

As Tax Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering both tax compliance and advisory services , providing commercially focused advice to business owners across a broad range of tax matters.

You'll work directly with Partners on complex client assignments, while also overseeing the delivery of the tax return programme and supporting the training and development of junior team members.

The role offers plenty of variety, from advising on business and property transactions through to tax planning, inheritance tax, estate planning and HMRC enquiries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop relationships across a varied portfolio of larger and more complex tax clients
  • Work closely with Partners to deliver high-quality tax advice and identify opportunities to add value
  • Provide tax planning and advisory support to business owners
  • Advise clients on the acquisition and disposal of businesses and properties
  • Provide advice across corporation tax, income tax and capital gains tax
  • Advise on inheritance tax and estate planning matters
  • Manage and support HMRC enquiries and investigations
  • Undertake technical tax research, financial analysis and report writing
  • Act as a technical tax resource to a wider network of smaller accountancy practices
  • Provide technical guidance and support via telephone and email
  • Oversee the effective delivery of the tax return programme
  • Ensure client work is completed accurately and within agreed deadlines
  • Support the management, coaching and development of junior team members
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with clients and understand their wider business needs

About You

We're looking for an experienced tax professional who combines strong technical knowledge with excellent client-facing and relationship-building skills .

You'll ideally have

  • ACA, ACCA and/or CTA qualification
  • Ideally at least
  • 3 years' post-qualified experience gained within tax practice
  • Strong experience advising owner-managed businesses
  • Solid technical knowledge across corporation tax, income tax and capital gains tax
  • Experience providing tax planning and advisory services to business owners
  • Exposure to business and/or property acquisitions and disposals
  • Experience with HMRC enquiries or investigations
  • Strong technical research and report-writing capabilities
  • Excellent client relationship and communication skills
  • Experience supervising, coaching or developing junior team members
  • A proactive approach with the confidence to take ownership of complex assignments
  • The ability to manage multiple clients, priorities and deadlines effectively
  • A collaborative approach and desire to contribute to a progressive team environment
