We are supporting a respected accountancy and advisory firm with the appointment of an Audit Senior Associate into its specialist Not-for-Profit Audit team. This is a strong opportunity for an auditor who is either already working with charities, academies, membership bodies, grant-making organisations, or other purpose-led clients — or someone who is keen to move into a more meaningful and values-driven area of audit. The team advises a wide range of organisations across the not-for-profit and social purpose sectors, providing audit and assurance services alongside wider support in areas such as governance, risk, financial reporting, advisory, and compliance. This role would suit someone who enjoys technical audit work but also wants to feel closer to the impact their clients are making.

As an Audit Senior Associate, you will support the delivery of audit assignments for a varied portfolio of not-for-profit clients. You will work closely with experienced Managers, Directors, and Partners, while also supervising and supporting junior members of the audit team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering audit work for charities, academies, schools, membership organisations, grant-making bodies, professional associations, and other not-for-profit clients
  • Supporting audits from planning through to completion
  • Acting as a key day-to-day contact for clients during assignments
  • Preparing and reviewing audit documentation to a high standard
  • Identifying audit issues and helping to develop practical, commercial solutions
  • Supporting junior auditors with their work, development, and confidence
  • Building strong relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Contributing to a positive, collaborative, and high-performing team culture
  • Developing your technical knowledge within a specialist and highly respected sector

The work is varied, people-focused, and offers the chance to build genuine expertise in a sector where strong audit and advisory support can make a real difference.

We are looking for someone with experience in external audit, ideally gained within an accountancy practice environment. Experience working with not-for-profit, charity, education, or social purpose clients would be highly beneficial, but it is not essential if you have a genuine interest in developing in this area. You will ideally be recently qualified, close to qualifying, or already qualified in ACA, ACCA, or an equivalent professional qualification. You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Strong external audit experience
  • An interest in the not-for-profit, charity, education, or wider social impact sector
  • Good technical audit knowledge and attention to detail
  • Confidence liaising with clients and building professional relationships
  • The ability to support and guide junior team members
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive approach to learning and development
  • The ability to think beyond the audit process and understand the wider needs of clients
  • A positive, professional, and ambitious attitude

This role would suit someone who wants to build a long-term career in audit while developing a recognised specialism.
