We are looking for a meticulous, hands-on professional to join us as a Knitwear Linker. This is a specialist role at the heart of our production process, where craftsmanship, care, and attention to detail truly matter.

What\’s the Role?

As a Knitwear Linker, you\’ll join the parts of our garments together — sleeves, collars, trims — using precision linking machinery. It\’s skilled work where every stitch counts and the final result depends on your steady hands and sharp eye.

You don\’t need to be a trained linker already if you have experience in garment production, sewing, tailoring, or similar hands-on work; we\’ll provide full training to help you master the art.

What You\’ll Be Doing

  • Linking together finely knitted garment panels with accuracy and care
  • Ensuring consistent quality, tension, and finish in every garment
  • Matching colours, threads, and detailing with a keen eye
  • Supporting production targets while maintaining our exceptional standards
  • Contributing to a culture of craftsmanship, teamwork, and pride

Who We\’re Looking For

  • You have excellent hand–eye coordination and enjoy working with precision
  • You\’re calm, methodical, and focused on quality
  • You care about doing things properly and take pride in what you produce
  • You work well in a team and are open to learning new skills
  • You may have worked in sewing, tailoring, textiles, or another hands-on role

Why Join John Smedley

  • Be part of a globally respected British heritage brand
  • Learn a rare and highly valued skill or build on your existing expertise
  • Work in a supportive, friendly team in a unique factory environment
  • Contribute to garments worn and loved around the world
  • Enjoy job stability, training, and the pride of making something meaningful
  • This is more than just a job — it\’s a chance to be part of a tradition of quality, care, and craftsmanship that spans centuries
