About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and hands‑on individual to join our team as a Trainee Jetter/Workshop Support. This role offers a structured development pathway from workshop support into specialist jetting operations. You will receive hands‑on training, gain experience working with industry‑leading equipment and have opportunities to travel and work on projects across the UK and internationally.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is looking to start or build a career within the water jetting industry. Based at our workshop in Ower, near Romsey, you will support the preparation, maintenance and management of jetting equipment while developing the skills and experience required to become part of our specialist jetting teams.
As your training progresses, you will work alongside experienced jetting operators on client sites throughout the UK, helping to deliver projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. This role operates within a 24/7 service environment, and working hours will vary accordingly. When based in the workshop, standard hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. However, when assigned to a jetting team, you will be required to work a flexible shift pattern, including both day and night shifts, across Monday to Sunday. Due to the nature of the role, regular overtime will be required, along with travel and overnight stays away from home, often at short notice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare equipment in accordance with project and site equipment checklists.
- Issue equipment to jetting teams and maintain accurate records.
- Check returned equipment back into the workshop and report any missing items.
- Clean, inspect and ensure equipment is serviceable before returning it to storage.
- Maintain high standards of housekeeping within the workshop, stores and goods-in areas.
- Assist with stock control and ensure spare parts are stored correctly.
- Support workshop projects.
- Carry out deliveries, equipment collections and other driving duties as required.
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles and equipment.
- Support the mobilisation and set‑up of jetting and ancillary equipment on site.
- Carry out jetting operations under supervision and in accordance with company procedures.
- Complete site administration including daily checks, timesheets and project records.
- Ensure work sites are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and organisation.
- Support site demobilisation, equipment checks and vehicle loading at the completion of works.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment and PPE stocks.
- Work safely and efficiently in a variety of industrial and construction environments.
- Represent RGL professionally when interacting with clients, contractors and colleagues.
- Follow all company health, safety and environmental procedures.
- Maintain a positive and flexible approach to work.
- Undertake any reasonable duties as requested by the Workshop Team Leader, Team Leaders, Supervisors or Managers.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- A positive “can‑do” attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good practical and mechanical aptitude.
- An interest in water jetting, equipment maintenance or industrial operations.
- The ability to follow written procedures and processes accurately.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- A flexible approach to working hours and locations.
- The willingness to work away from home when required.
- Willing to work in a range of environments, including outdoor and industrial settings.
- A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
- WJA & CSCS cards would be an advantage but are not necessary as full training will be given.
