About the Role
We’re looking for a reliable and detail-oriented AV and PAVA Maintenance Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll take ownership of the ongoing support, fault finding, and preventative maintenance of installed AV / PAVA systems across a diverse range of sites — from sporting facilities and houses of worship to historical buildings and corporate environments. This is a client-facing position requiring professionalism, clear communication, and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine preventative maintenance visits as part of planned maintenance contracts
- Respond to client service requests via email or phone, assess the issue, and coordinate on-site or remote support to resolve faults efficiently and professionally
- Diagnose and repair AV / PAVA system faults on-site or remotely
- Test and verify the performance of audio, video, and control systems
- Complete detailed service reports with recommendations for corrective actions
- Liaise with clients and end-users to ensure systems meet operational requirements
- Work with internal teams to source spare parts and equipment
- Maintain accurate records of equipment and service history
- Strong knowledge of installed AV systems, including amplifiers, mixers, DSPs, displays, cameras, livestreaming, projection, lighting, and control systems
- Experience using BSS Soundweb, QSYS, Yamaha MTX/MRX
- Competent use of DSP software to apply EQ, manage gain structure, and tune systems for speech and music reinforcement
- Ability to set up microphones, speakers, and playback systems with appropriate EQ and dynamics
- Understanding of Radio Microphone Licensing
- Familiarity with commissioning and testing Assisted Listening Systems (AFILS)
- Knowledge of networked AV systems
- Ability to read and interpret AV schematics and wiring diagrams
- Confident working independently on client sites
- Excellent fault-finding, diagnostic, and communication skills
- Full, clean UK driving licence
- Certified experience with Dante, Crestron, NDI, Extron, AMX, or similar AV platforms
- ECS/CSCS card
- IPAF and PASMA certification
- Membership of trade bodies such as ISCVE, CEDIA, or AVIXA
- Familiarity with standards such as BS5839, EN54, BS50849, BS EN 7827
