  • Description
  • 1. Role overview

The Youth & Mentoring Facilitator is a frontline delivery role at the heart of Bel Eve's work with girls and young women aged 8–22.

This is not a delivery-only role: facilitators are trusted adults, role models and development practitioners who plan and deliver sessions, support meaningful development in participants, and contribute the evidence that Bel Eve's programmes are working.

This role reports to a School Mentoring & Facilitation Lead — the 8–16 In-School Programme Lead or the 16+ External Programme Lead, depending on patch.

The Lead holds day-to-day team supervision, safeguarding escalation, and patch-level KPI ownership; this role's responsibility is to deliver excellent sessions, maintain accurate records, and raise concerns or ideas to the Lead promptly rather than resolve structural or safeguarding matters independently.

Bel Eve engages Youth & Mentoring Facilitators on two contract bases: a small number of permanent/fixed term Facilitators per patch, and a wider pool of Freelancer Facilitators engaged on a session or block basis.

The responsibilities, standards and KPIs below apply equally to both — the difference is contractual, not developmental.

Where a requirement is specific to one contract type only, it is marked accordingly.

2. Strategic Context

Bel Eve delivers transformative experiences that build confidence, ambition and belonging through BEAM, Be Empowered, Lead HERship, Bel Eve In Her Space, and Readiness for Mentoring, spanning all five phases of the Girls' Life Cycle Model (ages 8–22+).

This role sits primarily within the Delivery pillar, with a direct stake in Impact through session-level observation and touchpoint recording, and in Culture through safeguarding practice and inclusive facilitation.

As Bel Eve moves through a deliberate depth year in AY2026/27, protecting sustained-engagement rate and Depth-to-Reach Ratio, this role is where that strategic choice is actually delivered: every well-structured, accurately recorded session is a data point the organisation depends on for its Board and funder reporting.

  • 3. Key Responsibilities
  • 3a. Programme Delivery — Delivery pillar
  • Deliver Bel Eve programmes across schools and community settings, including BEAM, Be Empowered, Lead HERship and mentoring programmes, as assigned by your School Mentoring & Facilitation Lead.
  • Plan and deliver sessions that are structured and purposeful, engaging and inclusive, and designed to support real development rather than participation alone.
  • Adapt delivery to different age groups, learning needs and group dynamics.
  • Use facilitation techniques that encourage participation, reflection and voice.
  • Attend session planning and scheduling briefings as required by your Lead.
  • Facilitate group mentoring sessions and contribute to 1:1 mentoring where required.
  • Support young people to set goals, build confidence in expressing themselves, and navigate challenges in school, relationships and future planning.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with participants while maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
  • 3c. Observation, Reflection & Contribution to Impact — Impact pillar
  • Observe and respond to participant behaviour, engagement and participation during sessions.
  • Complete required session records, reflections and touchpoint logs accurately and on time, so your Lead can evidence Depth-to-Reach Ratio and sustained‑engagement metrics.
  • Contribute to understanding how young people are developing over time, and identify needs, risks or progress worth flagging.
  • Share insights with your School Mentoring & Facilitation Lead to support continuous improvement of the programme.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection at all times.
  • Create inclusive environments where every young person feels safe, valued and able to participate.
  • Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and follow Bel Eve's safeguarding procedures, escalating promptly to your School Mentoring & Facilitation Lead.
  • Complete mandatory safeguarding and compliance training within your probation period (Facilitators) or before independent delivery (Freelancer Facilitators), and refresher training on schedule.
  • 3e. Partnership & Professional Conduct — Partnerships pillar
  • Represent Bel Eve professionally in all external settings, including schools and community partners.
  • Build positive relationships with school staff, community partners and other stakeholders you work alongside.
  • Communicate effectively and reliably with your School Mentoring & Facilitation Lead and the wider delivery team.
  • Attend training, briefings and team development sessions as required.
  • Reflect on your own practice and actively work to improve your facilitation.
  • Engage constructively with feedback from your School Mentoring & Facilitation Lead and implement improvements.
