Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) – Maternity Cover
Contract: Fixed Term Maternity Cover (12 months)
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours per week

The Haven Wolverhampton is looking for a passionate and dedicated Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to join our Community Services team on a 12-month maternity cover contract.
This is a rewarding opportunity to support women experiencing domestic abuse, helping them to increase their safety, access their rights, and move towards safer, more independent futures.
As an IDVA, you will provide specialist advocacy and support to high-risk victims of domestic abuse, working closely with partner agencies including housing providers, health services, social care, police, and MARAC to achieve the best outcomes for women and their children.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing a caseload of women experiencing domestic abuse.
- Undertaking risk assessments and safety planning.
- Providing practical and emotional support, advocacy, and information.
- Representing clients within multi-agency settings, including MARAC.
- Supporting women to access housing, legal, health, and wellbeing services.
- Working collaboratively with partner agencies to reduce risk and improve safety.
- Maintaining accurate and confidential case records.
- Supporting volunteers, students, or community team members where required.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals.
- Experience managing a caseload and maintaining accurate records.
- A good understanding of domestic abuse and safeguarding.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
- The ability to work effectively within a multi-agency environment.
- A commitment to empowering women and promoting equality.
Previous experience within a Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) service and/or an IDVA qualification would be advantageous, although training and development opportunities are available.
