Purpose of the Job

The Welder is responsible for manufacturinghigh-security vision frames to specification, ensuring all welding andfinishing work meets the required quality standards prior to coatingapplication. The role involves both MIG welding of carbon steel and TIG weldingof stainless steel, together with dressing and finishing welded components toachieve a high-quality appearance.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture vision frames in line withproduction orders, drawings, and specifications.
  • Perform MIG welding on carbon steel(1.5mm wall thickness).
  • Perform TIG welding on stainless steelcomponents.
  • Dress, grind, and finish welded areasto the required standard.
  • Complete visual inspections onfinished work to ensure quality requirements are met.
  • Carry out dimensional checks oncompleted products against specifications and drawings.
  • Meet daily production targets anddeadlines.
  • Identify and report any fabrication orquality issues to the relevant supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe and organised workingenvironment.
  • Follow all Health & Safetypolicies and procedures.

  • On-timecompletion of production schedules
  • Achievement of quality and workmanshipstandards.
  • Compliance with Health, Safety andEnvironmental (HSE) requirements.
  • Minimal rework and scrap levels.
  • Accurate completion of inspections andquality checks

Competencies and Personal Attributes

Required:

  • Recognised welding qualification orequivalent welding experience.
  • Proven experience in both MIG and TIGwelding.
  • Previous welding and fabricationexperience.
  • Experience using grinding andfinishing tools.
  • Ability to interpret engineeringdrawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience carrying out visual qualityinspections.
  • Ability to work independently and aspart of a team.
  • Good understanding of Health & Safetyrequirements within a manufacturing environment.
  • Reliable and dependable.
  • Quality-focused with a high standardof workmanship.
  • Positive attitude and willingness tolearn.
  • Able to manage workload effectivelyand meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills andattention to detail.

Preferred:

  • Previous experiencewithin a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
  • Experience producingbespoke or high-security products.
  • Knowledge ofdimensional inspection techniques and measuring equipment.
