Hours

Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:30, with planned out-of-hours work, flexible overtime, travel, and participation in the on-call rota.

Role Overview

The Regional Team Lead is a senior field engineering roleresponsible for delivering exceptional service across the VFAST network whileacting as the regional technical lead for engineering activities.

The role combines hands-on engineering with leadershipresponsibilities, ensuring installations, maintenance, fault resolution andinfrastructure upgrades are delivered safely, consistently and to ourengineering standards.

Working closely with the other Engineering Lead, Service Delivery, Projects, Network Engineering and Commercial teams, the Regional Team Lead will provide technical guidance, mentor engineers, maintain qualitystandards, and help drive continuous improvement across the regionalengineering operation.

Key Responsibilities

Regional Engineering Leadership

  • Act as the senior engineering lead within theassigned region.
  • Lead by example through professionalism, technical expertise and customer service.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance andsupport to regional engineers.
  • Escalate technical, operational and customerrisks where appropriate.
  • Support engineering resource planning alongside Service Delivery.
  • Deliver installations, maintenance, upgrades andfault resolution across VFAST infrastructure.
  • Undertake complex engineering activities wheresenior technical knowledge is required.
  • Support infrastructure expansion, park upgradesand network improvement projects.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficientlyand in accordance with company standards.

Quality Assurance

  • Carry out regular quality inspections ofcompleted engineering work.
  • Ensure installations comply with company buildstandards, documentation and H&S requirements.
  • Identify recurring quality issues and implementcorrective actions.
  • Promote a culture of continual improvement andengineering excellence.
  • Support post-installation reviews and lessonslearned activities.
  • Mentor and coach new and existing engineers.
  • Support onboarding of new starters.
  • Deliver practical field-based technicalcoaching.
  • Assist with competency assessments and skillsdevelopment.
  • Promote continuous learning and professionaldevelopment across the regional team.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure accurate completion of engineeringdocumentation and job records.
  • Support stock control and equipment management.
  • Assist in developing and improving engineeringprocesses and working practices.
  • Promote consistency across all regionalengineering activities.
  • Contribute to regional performance reporting andcontinuous improvement initiatives.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
  • Lead by example in maintaining the higheststandards of Health & Safety.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies andsafe systems of work.
  • Carry out risk assessments where required.
  • Report hazards, incidents and near missespromptly.
  • Promote safe working practices across theregional team.
  • Act as the link between Field Engineering, Service Delivery, Projects and Network Engineering.
  • Support customer communications where technicalinput is required.
  • Assist Project Managers with surveys, planningand technical delivery.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams toimprove service delivery.
  • Operational Requirements

The Regional Team Lead will be expected to

  • Participate in the company on-call rota.
  • Be available for planned out-of-hoursengineering works.
  • Work flexible overtime where operationalrequirements dictate.
  • Travel extensively throughout their assignedregion and nationally where required.
  • Occasionally stay overnight when supportingmajor projects or business requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Strong experience within ISP, wirelessnetworking or telecommunications engineering.
  • Excellent understanding of Wi MAX, wirelessbroadband and networking technologies.
  • Experience installing and maintaining Ubiquitiand Mikro Tik infrastructure.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting juniorengineers.
  • Excellent customer service and communicationskills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Fibre optic installation and testing experience.
  • Network routing knowledge.
  • Experience with GPON and Ethernet technologies.
