Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Multi‑Skilled Carpenter to join our team in Swansea. This role will involve a variety of carpentry and joinery tasks, including maintenance, repairs, and installations in residential properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general carpentry, with the ability to perform additional tasks such as plumbing, basic electrical work, and tiling.
Responsibilities
- Install and fit kitchen units.
- Install, repair, and maintain wooden structures, frameworks, and fixtures in social housing properties, such as doors, windows, skirting boards, architraves, and stairs.
- Carry out bespoke joinery work, including shelving units, cabinets, and custom furniture.
- Install and repair internal woodwork including flooring, staircases, and doorframes.
- Perform general carpentry repairs and maintenance tasks for tenants in social housing properties.
- Respond to emergency repair requests, including ensuring the safety and habitability of the property.
- Conduct thorough inspections to identify issues that need repair and suggest solutions to property managers or tenants.
- Perform minor plumbing tasks, such as fixing leaks, installing taps, or unblocking drains.
- Basic electrical work (such as replacing light fittings or switches) where qualified.
- Tiling, plastering, and minor building maintenance tasks to keep properties in good condition.
- Carry out refurbishments and improvements as part of planned maintenance schedule.
- Comply with health and safety regulations at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for both you and the residents.
- Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow site‑specific safety procedures.
- Communicate effectively with residents to understand their repair needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Report progress and completion of tasks to the relevant team or management.
- Maintain a high standard of professionalism when interacting with tenants.
- Complete work orders, report on job status, and submit timesheets and materials used.
- Keep accurate records of repairs and installations for future reference or warranty purposes.
You Will Need
- Proven experience as a multi‑skilled carpenter with experience working in the social housing sector or residential properties.
- Competency in carpentry, joinery, and other general maintenance tasks such as basic plumbing, electrical work, and tiling.
- Strong ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to carry out tasks quickly while maintaining a high level of quality.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery (or equivalent).
- A valid CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card is typically required.
- Relevant qualifications in basic plumbing and electrical work are a plus but not essential.
