Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 pa + paid travel, on call and overtime allowances (Total average earnings of £43,000 - £60,000 pa)

About the role: We are seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer to act as the on-site technical authority within our service & reactive security operations team. This is a hands‑on, senior role focused on preventative servicing and fault finding electronic security systems. You will provide technical leadership, developing the skills of the wider team. You will be the escalation point for challenging technical issues and play a key role in developing the capability of our engineering team.

Key Competencies

  • Carry out preventative maintenance of electronic security systems
  • Carry out reactive fault investigations and repairs of electronic security systems
  • Provide reliable, quality support to our customers at all times
  • Effective communication and customer service skills (telephone, in person)
  • Assist clients and regional team with technical issues either on the phone or face to face
  • Have a flexible approach to working hours when required
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to team members

Skills & Experience

  • High level of experience in the security industry
  • Excellent technical knowledge of security systems
  • Have a systematic and logical approach to tasks and problem solving
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • High standards of detail and accuracy in completion of documentation for works
  • Accountability in effective maintenance of van stock

Systems & Technology

  • Work across a wide range of systems including Intruder Alarm, Access Control, CCTV & Intercoms
  • Covering various technologies such as Texecom Cloud, Dahua DoLynk, Salto KS, Paxton 10, Brivo and many more

Technical Knowledge

  • Act as the on-site technical lead, supporting engineers with complex issues and best practice guidance
  • Utilise manufacturer software for configuration, diagnostics, and system optimisation

Quality and Compliance

  • Ensure all works comply with relevant British Standards, legislation, and internal quality procedures

Customer and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Provide professional, confident technical support to clients and stakeholders onsite
  • Resolve technical issues while maintaining a positive customer experience
  • Represent Amthal positively through high standards of workmanship and conduct

About you

You are an experienced Fire Engineer who operates confidently at a senior level and leads by example. You will have the ability to mentor, support, and influence other engineers. You will demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in commissioning & fault-finding complex fire alarm systems
  • Strong technical understanding of systems, programming, and diagnostics
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail, and professional communication
  • A proactive, accountable mindset with a commitment to doing the job right first time
