How can you help us – the role
We are looking for a Technical Pre‑Sales Engineer who sits comfortably at the intersection of technology, customers, and commercial outcomes. This role is key to driving our growth, and helping our clients achieve better and faster data security. This role is critical in translating complex technical capabilities into clear, compelling value for prospective customers, while acting as a trusted technical partner throughout the sales cycle.
You will work closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to support deals from first conversation through to handover, ensuring solutions are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Sales to support the full pre‑sales lifecycle, from discovery through to close.
- Lead technical discovery sessions to understand customer requirements, constraints, and success criteria.
- Deliver product demonstrations, proof‑of‑concepts, and technical presentations tailored to customer use cases.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor to customers, building credibility and long‑term relationships.
- Design and propose technically robust solutions that align with product capabilities and customer needs.
- Translate customer requirements into solution architectures, configurations, and technical documentation.
- Identify technical risks early and work with internal teams to mitigate them.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to provide customer feedback and influence roadmap priorities.
- Support Sales with technical input for proposals, RFPs, RFIs, and security or architecture questionnaires.
- Ensure smooth handover from pre‑sales to delivery, implementation, or customer success teams.
- Contribute to sales enablement materials, demo environments, and technical playbooks.
- Stay up to date with product releases, industry trends, and competitor offerings.
- Help improve pre‑sales processes, tools, and documentation as the business scales.
Skills & Experience
Essential skills and expertise- Proven experience in a Technical Pre‑Sales, Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, or similar role.
- Strong technical background, with the ability to understand and explain complex systems clearly.
- Experience delivering technical demos and customer‑facing presentations.
- A track record of technical problem solving, with an ability to articulate the business and commercial needs for the requirements.
- Skilled in networks, network security, networking infrastructure, routing and switching (Cisco, Juniper, HPE, Palo Alto, Fortinet).
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, scaling environment.
- Degree or equivalent qualifications.
- Ability to set and challenge perceptions.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work in pressurised environments to meet tight deadlines.
- A strong communicator, and an active listener, able to understand nuance and apply this to situations.
- Experience working with SaaS, cloud‑based platforms, APIs, or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with security, infrastructure, or enterprise technology environments.
- Experience responding to RFPs and technical due diligence processes.
- Exposure to working with enterprise or mid‑market customers.
- Encryptions, PKI, PQC understanding and knowledge.
