At Jarvie Plant, we’re offering the opportunity to be part of a supportive, experienced team where your expertise will make a real difference. This role covers Central and West Scotland customer locations, based from our Paisley Depot (PA3 2RP). You’ll help keep our fleet moving, ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and ready for hire when our customers need them.

How This Role Supports the Delivery of Hire Solutions:

As a Mobile Vehicle Mechanic, you play a key role in maintaining the high standards our customers rely on. By quickly identifying and resolving issues, both on-site and on the road, you help minimise downtime and keep our fleet hire-ready, ensuring we deliver dependable, high-quality solutions across every job.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair issues on a variety of vehicles, both roadside and at customer sites.
  • Carry out routine services like oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
  • Address engine management, electrical systems, braking systems, and more.
  • Ensure vehicles meet required standards and pass inspections.
  • Test replaced parts to verify proper function.
  • Comply with legal and safety regulations.
  • Identify potential wear and tear during inspections.
  • Work efficiently with team members to complete tasks on time.
  • Report concerns to the Rentals Manager and/or Workshop Manager.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service with professionalism and care.

In periods of lower mobile service demand, duties will be carried out within the workshop at the base depot.

What Will Make You a Great Fit:

We’d love to see the following skills and experience from our applicants:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on multi-fleet vehicles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work efficiently.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring vehicle safety and high-quality work.
  • Clear communication skills with both technical and non-technical team members.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and achieve goals.
  • Proactive approach with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Comfort working independently and as part of a team.

N.B: Vehicle Mechanics are expected to supply their own basic hand tools. Jarvie Plant will provide all necessary specialist tools, PPE, and branded workwear.
