The role
We're looking for an experienced Credit Controller to take full ownership of credit control across the group and its associated companies, working closely with our finance team. Based in either our Exeter or Shropshire office, it's a role with real autonomy and direct visibility with the directors — ideal for someone who wants meaningful responsibility on part‑time hours.
What you'll do
- Own the sales ledger (circa £1m and 70 clients) end to end across the group and its associated companies.
- Proactively chase outstanding invoices, reduce aged debt and keep DSO under control.
- Raise and reconcile invoices (circa 60 per month); resolve client queries and disputes promptly and professionally.
- Support the finance team with wider invoicing if needed.
- Set up new clients, run credit checks and recommend credit limits.
- Produce regular debtor and cash‑collection reporting for the directors; liaise with our external accountants on month‑end and reconciliations.
About you
- Proven credit control experience.
- Confident, diplomatic communicator who can chase payment firmly without damaging client relationships.
- Numerate and accurate, with a good eye for detail.
- Comfortable working alongside a finance team and confident with accounting software (Xero/Sage/Quickbooks).
- Self‑managing and reliable on part‑time hours.
