Contract: Permanent

Salary: £33,000 – 35,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

Location: Luton. Squared is committed to agile, therefore you will work from any of the Squared sites or remotely as appropriate to business need.

About the Team:

Our Finance and Digital Services department is a vital division of Squared. The role protects the wealth of Squared’s assets, capital, staff and money, and develops and implements the digital transformation agenda. Key finance functions include payroll, pension and staff benefits; petty cash; rent and sales ledgers; annual budgeting and business plans; monthly, quarterly and annual accounts for stakeholders; regulatory reporting.

About the Role:

You will support the Finance Department, working closely with the Financial Controller (line manager) and the Management Accountant (reporting). The role will ensure the smooth running of all processing including sales ledger, purchase ledger, banking and nominal ledger. You will set expectations for when regular work is to be completed each day, week and month and ensure the department achieves those targets. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, you will manage your own workload and daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain monthly cashbooks and undertake bank reconciliations for all association bank accounts.
  • Record journals to maintain the nominal ledger.
  • Supervise and target‑set all sales ledger invoicing and posting; support queries and resolve issues with other departments.
  • Supervise and target‑set all purchase ledger invoicing and posting; prepare timely payment runs.
  • Supervise rent collection activities and ensure timely reconciliations.
  • Assist in maintaining the fixed asset register.
  • Provide finance support to staff and liaise with suppliers when required.
  • Ensure compliance with Financial Regulations.
  • Support Board and company meeting preparations.
  • Follow Squared’s policies and procedures, including Health and Safety, Fairness, and Business Continuity Planning.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

Education / Qualifications: GCSE/O Level in English and Mathematics; qualified by experience in finance; part‑qualified accountant pursuing a recognised qualification.

Knowledge / Experience: At least 2 years in a busy accounting office; experience using accounting software and payroll programmes; experience in a social housing environment.

Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication; proficiency with spreadsheets and word‑processing; quick learning; strong organisational and time‑management; team collaboration; methodical approach; accurate record keeping; ability to work under pressure; strong reconciliation skills.
