We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant to support our Finance team with day-to-day accounts tasks. Responsibilities will include processing payments and purchases, preparing journals, managing VAT and bank reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records using both our bespoke finance system and Xero.

This is a hybrid role based in London, with a fixed pattern of 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home.

What you'll do:

  • Work with finance team to ensure accuracy and completeness of data and reports
  • Ensure efficient day to day processing of receipts, payments and bank entries
  • Prepare group VAT returns and track monthly VAT tasks, as well as VAT reconciliations
  • Process various data on Xero over multiple companies - including sales, purchases, journals and bank reconciliations
  • Monitor and deal with emails from our generic inbox
  • Reconcile financial systems to ensure integrity of financial data
  • Monthly reconciliation of insurance commission debtor receipts
  • Monthly Expense Analysis
  • Assist with client receipts into insurance accounts
  • Manage our Spendesk Expense system including payments to employees
  • Manage monthly expenses relating to the annual PSA return
  • Ensure company service standards are met at all times

Experience, Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience of working in a finance role in an insurance environment (desirable)
  • Knowledge of Xero or similar
  • VAT experience
  • Strong numeric skills, including good knowledge of Excel
  • Methodical approach with a sharp eye for detail
  • Ability to work as part of a small team as well as capable of ensuring individual responsibilities are met
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken
